I am directed by His Grace the Duke of Newcastle to inform you that your appointment "Engineer Foreman" in the Mint of Hong Kong has met with the sanction of His Grace, at a salary of £450 per annum with quarters on the premises of the mint.
Free passages for yourself, wife & three children in the vessel taking out the "Columns Firders" are expected to sail from Liverpool about the middle of May next. Half salary payable from the date of employment in England until your arrival in Hong Kong.
It is provided that you are to receive a free passage for yourself & family.
