1. The despatch from Secretary of State, No. 50 of 22 March, is circulated for information, and with reference to my despatch No. 46 of the 8th instant.
A copy qua letter from Bekenham is enclosed, intimating the appointment of Mr. John Inglis as Engineer Foreman in the Hongkong Mint. Mr. Inglis will draw half salary from the rate of £225 per annum, from the 4th of April, the day on which he will commence work in this Colony.
2. The Attorney General is informed that the Governor and the Law Officers have been authorised to fix Mr. Inglis' salary from the 4th of April next.
