Sir,
With reference to your letter of the 14th instant, I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you, for the information of Mr Cardwell, that their Lordships see no objection to the Estimate enclosed in a despatch from the Governor of Hong Kong, for the erection of five hundred police reps in Victoria at a cost of $13,000.
