I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to draw the attention, to request you of In Secretary Cardwell to the letter of this Board of 12th May in which it was stated that-

Their Lordships had directed Deputy Commissary General Strickland to repay that amount to the Colonial Government; a repayment of this advance will thus have been made twice over, and it will be necessary that the Secretary of State should reclaim the sum from Mr Hamilton;

If Mr Cardwell is unable to charge the amount upon the Local Revenue of Hong Kong, the money, when recovered from Mr Hamilton, may be paid over to the Paymaster General to be placed to the Treasury Chest Account to meet the corresponding issue Wales, and be considered as a receipt from the Board of...
