With reference to your letter of the Instant on the subject of the grant of a Retiring Allowance from Colonial Funds to the Bishop of Victoria Hong Kong - whose Salary has been paid from the Colonial Bishopric Fund, I am desired by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to request that You will state to Her Majesty's Secretary Cardwell that Their Lordships apprehend that the Bishop's claim for an allowance would properly rest upon that Fund;
