sanction from the 1st Instant the temporary employment by the Harbour Master's Department of 4 boatmen at $6. per month each

General.

for

the use

of

the Surveyor

The Harbour Master's Department has hitherto been able occasionally to furnish the Surveyor General and his subordinates with a boat when required, but as the works referred to now require to be inspected daily, the exclusive use of a boat's crew has become necessary, and this the Harbour Master is unable to supply.

Provision will be made for this outlay (which was not foreseen when the Estimates for 1865 were under consideration) in the Supplementary Estimates which will have to be prepared at the close of next year.

I have the honor to be,

Sir,

Your Most Obedient Servant
