Hong Kong, 14th September, 1864

I am directed by His Excellency The Governor to forward for your information copy of a letter, just received from the Captain Superintendent of Police, on the subject of a riot which took place last night in the town, and to suggest to you, under the circumstances stated, that it appears to His Excellency advisable that you should order the 77th Regiment to be forthcoming for the present.
