On receiving a report of these disgraceful outrages, on Thursday morning, the 15th, I at once communicated with the Commandant, suggesting the advisability of the Regiment being forthwith removed to Kowloon; and the Commandant concurring entirely in the necessity for such a step, the Regiment was moved across the Harbour the same day to the quarters recently occupied by the 20th Regiment, prior to their departure for Japan.
A Detachment of the Engineers, Artillery, and 67th Regiment, which were stationed at Kowloon, were then brought over to this side of the Harbour for garrison duty.
