As usual, in cases of
Disturbances
in which numbers of persons
are
engaged at night, much contradiction and discrepancy
exist in the evidence on minor
points of
detail, but certain main facts have been established beyond
all dispute, and these I will relate
as
briefly as possible for your
information.
On Monday night, the 12th instant, a disturbance took
place between some Europeans and Lascar seamen originating,
it is supposed,
in a brothel dispute.
An attack appears to have been made by the Europeans upon a Lascar boarding house adjoining the brothel, and in the fight
