I am directed by
Sec. Cardwell to acquaint you that the Govr and Council of Hongkong have granted you a Pension at the rate of £300, per annum, subject to the condition that such pension shall cease in the event of your obtaining Church Preferment elsewhere to an amount equivalent, if to a less amount your pension shall bear a proportionate reduction. The Crown Agents have therefore been instructed to issue to you from the day on which you shall formally complete your resignation your Pension at the above rate, and subject to the above mentioned conditions.
