Craig Meadow Amby recently retired from practice in their spare time, when during that time both himself and son held appointments in the Surveyor General's department, they advertised themselves in the Public papers as architects and seemed to obtain a fair share of practice; probably they found success in the fact that having held the Colonial appointment which he held, he now finds himself the Architect (except the Military) in the Colony, and indeed in the south of China, and has thus been able to make, what may at the best be called an unfair Statement, with the view of putting down all rivalry, thereby securing to himself what he has so much deprecated - a monopoly, which however conducive to his own interests, would in all probability not be so to that of the Community at large.

On to the Colonial Office which has a direct interest in the "lots" of land sold by them being built upon,

Your most obedient,

Levant Gaffs

CM
