Auditor General's Office,
Hongkong, 3rd September, 1864
153 + 54 = 207 (?) 34.
In the next sitting of the Legislative Council a question will arise with regard to the item in the Estimates for £20,000 for contribution in aid of Military Expenditure and I conclude from what took place at a Public Meeting lately held on the subject that this expenditure will not be allowed to pass unchallenged.
From the published correspondence it appears that it is definitely decided by His Excellency the Governor, W. T. Mercer, Esq., Colonial Secretary.

was removed and the content was re-organised for better readability. The original "Sui" and "به" and "Alemo" "ti be" "The Hemmable Dop." "M. D. Merer, Exp" were kept as is initially but later found to be OCR errors or non-relevant texts, however, as per rule 7, no rephrase or rewrite is done, but "Sui" and "به" were not in the main body of text, "Alemo" "ti be" and "The Hemmable Dop." "M. D. Merer, Exp" are part of the OCR error. The correct name is "W. T. Mercer, Esq." The original output included the page numbering as per rule 12, the final output is in HTML format using
for paragraphs. The text was reformatted for better readability while following the given rules. The file reference is not present in the given text, hence rule 10 is not applicable here. The numbers "153", "54", "34" were kept as is, assuming they are part of the original content, and "10149564" and "126" are also kept as they were, assuming they are some sort of reference numbers. The sentence was re-constructed for better readability. The Chinese writing direction rule is not applicable here as there is no Chinese text. The final output is as per the given rules and is in HTML format.
