Lieut. Walker R.N. to Senior Naval Officer Hongkong.
The pirates have recently become so bold as to chase native traders to the very mouth of the harbour, and that their vessels were so swift, and daring, that the Chinese Senior Naval officer had declared his utter inability to cope with them.
I have, &c., (Signed.) M. S. Nolloth
Captain and Senior Naval Officer.
