I beg to acknowledge with reference to 48244, I concur with Captain Quin in thinking that the Chinese Force deserves special consideration in regard to the amount of gratuity to be awarded.
It is obvious that a Chinese Constable, so far as detection of criminals is concerned, is worth two Indian or European Constables, and his performance of his duties should be encouraged as much as possible.
I would suggest that Mr. Robinson should be informed.
