Claims for the merciful consideration of Government, I did myself the honour to bring to your notice on the recent visit to the Shikarfoor Jail.

2. It appears from the Nominal Roll of the Chinese Prisoners transferred from the Kurracher to the Shikarfoor Jail in March 1852, a copy of which is annexed, that the three Chinese Prisoners now under notice, and whose names are at the top of the list, are under sentence of transportation for life. No 1. Wong was, it is stated, convicted on the 12th November 1846 of Robbery with violence, No 2. Wong Poongulew was convicted on the 18th November 1846 of cutting and maiming, and No 3 Le Apook was convicted on the 13th December 1845 of Robbery with violence. The first two, therefore, last November completed 18 years imprisonment, and No 3 nineteen years in December.

3. From their statements it would appear that there were several men who had been for years in the Kurracher Jail before their transfer to Shikarfoor, and, if considered necessary, I have no doubt that favourable testimony as to their good conduct, while confined at Kurracher, could be obtained.
