The Civil Hospital and Roman Catholic Cathedral were struck by lightning. The Hospital had a hole about two feet square torn through the roof, but this was easily rectified.
The various Public Buildings in course of erection have not suffered in any way.

The drains are now being repaired, and the roads are being made with Stone and earth mixed; as for the streets between the Causeway and Queen's Road levels, a layer of 20 Stone every futting in barriers or 30 yards flush with the surface is being put to prevent the scour on occasion of the next heavy fall of rain.
