The proceeds of the water rate imposed by section 4 of Ordinance 12 of 1860, and which has been levied since the 10th January last on such portions of the Town as are now supplied with water, may be estimated at $25,000 per annum.

b. This will leave, after defraying the cost of maintenance, a clear annual income to the Colony of about $22,000, equivalent to 13 per cent on the Capital invested in the undertaking.

The present supply, however, has been found during the last dry season to be insufficient, and it will become necessary to make slight alterations in, and additions to, the service during the course of next year, which will involve a further expenditure of about $10,000.
