Deury Manning recalled. States in answer to Mr Tomlin - with reference to my statement as to the time the Convicts being put on board, the police arrived half an hour after the Convicts were on board the Hulk and not before as I stated. When I say the Stone gang guard had three Indian Constables, there were only two that accompanied the gang, the third being posted on Hill as a Sentry for the Stone gang; the irregularity of Convicts going from one gang to another was not brought to my notice on any other occasion than the 21st instant; no other officer to my knowledge ever reported such irregularities to you. You directed the numbers of the Convicts in each gang to be taken and directed that any man repeating the offence to be reported, and added that he should be punished.
Maximiano Collaco recalled. In answer to Mr Tomlin, states when I started from the Stock in pursuit of the prisoners, it was 10 to 15 minutes to 10 a.m. when I saw the convict in a "perfect" escape.
