I then heard an outcry being made by an Indian Constable as Sentry at the Convicts Cook House____ which is close to the dining shed. I understood the Constable to say that a convict Water Carrier had made his escape by water. I immediately ran a part " I then saw the clerk (Mr. Colaço) running towards me saying "prisoners were escaping or fighting" I did not clearly understand which.
