I have communicated without delay the substance of your letter to the captain of H. B. M. Frigate "Gazelle", the Baron de Bothwell, now in this harbor, and am desired by this gentleman to inform you that the directions of H. B. M.'s Government will be scrupulously followed.

It affords me much pleasure in asking you to bring to the notice of His Excellency, the Governor, that the prize brought into this harbor by H. B. M.'s Frigate "Gazelle" has already been released, and placed at the disposal of her Master before receipt of your letter, and that she has been flying the Danish Colors ever since yesterday morning and is perfectly at liberty to proceed on her intended voyage without delay.

I have &c.,

(Signed) W. Nissen,

H. B. M.'s Acting Vice-Consul.

(True Copy.)

J. W. Murray,

Colonial Secretary.
