This appointment is contemplated by the Regulations for the Convict Establishment approved of in September last, but I find that provision was only made in the Estimates for the current year, which passed the Legislative Council the previous July, for 5 Turnkeys, and so the appointment has not before been filled up.
The Salary of the office is $324 per annum, receivable from the 10th Instant, and provision for it will be made in the supplementary Estimates at the close of the year.
