But of the entire area of 16 Acres to be made available, only two acres will be required for the Mint, and it is anticipated that the remaining fourteen acres will fully cover the cost of reclaiming the ground, and will produce in addition an annual Rental to the Colony of about $1207.
I am to state that under these circumstances and as there appears really to be no other available site, Sir Cardwell won't recommend this Estimate for the reclaiming of a portion of Causeway Bay for their Lordships' sanction, in order that the Colony may be authorised to provide for this expanding Supplementary Estimate.
