Sir,
Colonial Secretary to Surveyor General.
Colonial Secretary's Office,
Hong Kong, 7th April, 1860.
His Excellency The Governor has carefully considered your letters of 25th November and 30th December 1859 respectively, and of 24th Ultimo upon the subject of changes in, and additions to, your Department, which he considers imperatively called for both by your own representations and by the approaching departure on leave, and the large area over which the Surveyor General's duties extend.
