selected Causeway Bay.

I entirely concur with the Committee that the site recommended is on the whole the best that can be found - Nowloon which powered many advantages being considered ineligible from the fact that treasure crossing and recrossing Starbor would be subjected to additional charges for insurance.

The site chosen combines the advantages of abundant space with deep sea frontage, and an almost unlimited supply of fresh water, being situated at the mouth of two streams which have never been exhausted even in the dryest season. The situation promises also to prove as cool and healthy as any in the whole island.

The only drawback to it is that it is not available for building upon at the present moment, as it will have to be reclaimed from the sea at a considerable expense.

The ground required for the Mint will slightly exceed 2 acres, but to obtain this space in Causeway Bay with a sufficient depth of water frontage, about 15 acres must be reclaimed from the sea.
