that two Silver medals are expected in the Colony from your association upon competition among the Volunteers. Mr Cardwell is aware that since the date of Capt. Brine's letter, one medal has been received from your Office, and has been forwarded in due course to England, where it has probably by this time arrived. But in respect of the second medal to which reference is made, Mr. Cardwell would be glad to learn from the Resident and you whether the Colonial Government has been informed what answer they would wish to be returned to Capt. Brine's application.
