Having received the Pilot, we steamed out and in the evening anchored in Taytam Bay. The next morning (Friday 29th) I proceeded to the Island of King Ting and examined the small harbor there but found nothing but fishing boats who informed us that they had heard of Piratical junks being in Ty-ho Bay, for which place we bent our course and examined that afternoon.
That night Deake Bay having found nothing Ty ho. On the morning of Saturday the 30th I weighed and proceeded under sail for the Capsing moon Pass. It falling calm, I examined Yemmos Bay and received information that the day before a Piratical junk and rowboat had passed towards Chingwan and that a snake boat had attacked a junk in Tipo Bay. I then proceeded under easy steam to Chingwan, which we reached at 12.30. We sent boats to examine junks but found nothing suspicious; 20 Set out and examined the Island, passing some junks anchored under Mahuau, we observed one when getting under weigh hove in sight and on examining her found three loaded jingals and three new swords covered...
