of
the Colony of Hong Kong
It will be a
relief
to me
if
Your Excellency will exercise that power
in the manner
pointed out in the inclosed;
desperately
I have
no
legal Officer attached
to me at Peking,
in any
Case
and I shall confine myself
to considering how
consistent with
good policy, and with
the important object of the repression of
Crime on
the Coast. Should
any legal
point be involved which the Consular
1
Court has
failed to perceive
it
may
be desirable that I should be furnished
with the opinion of the Attorney General in order that I
may
draw
the attention
of
the Consul to it.
