This work is intended to connect the rubble-stone ashlar granite Canal at Bowrington (authorized under Resolution with Estimate No. 1 of 1862) with the main bridge across Wongneichong so as to prevent sand washing on the face between the proposed reclamation area and the present Roads, occupying a space of granite backing and which with an area of 3½ acres at present tenanted & used by a Chinese gardener formed the locality proposed for a public Garden and some lineal yards was proposed for a consecrated Burial Ground. It is advisable to carry out this work as it is a thing to be done before the definite appropriation of the site may be determined upon. A line of road is proposed to separate the area so reserved from that lately sold, affording facilities of converting it to some useful purpose or should circumstances demand it, and tenants be induced to proceed with the erection of Houses at Bowrington this might be sold.
