I have in the mean time, at Mr Thornton's request, authorized the Crown Agents to issue to Mr Wulf his salary from the 1st Aug: during the remainder of his stay in England; and I have called on Mr Thornton to furnish me with an order to his agent in the Colony to refund to the Colonial Government any payment that may have been made to him subsequent to the 31st July, 1863, on account of Mr Thornton's Salary.
