To observe that Sir It Robertson would appear to be correct in the supposition that the non-insertion of receipts and payments under Ordinance 17 of 1860 in the Estimate of $61,718 was owing to the fact that the Estimates were passed in 1860 before the Ordinance of that year.
His Explanation respecting the fees received by the Protector of Emigrants for attesting Emigration Contracts is also correct.
The matter has caused a reference to be made by the Colony respecting the leave granted to Mr. Duddell without a Public Sale as there are in this department the means of satisfying the Enquiries of the Commissioners of Audit on the subject.
