Minute
30th June
The Under Secretary of State Sir,
War Office
I am directed by the Duke of Newcastle to...
31st March
I am directed to you, with reference to previous correspondence, copies of two despatches received from the Officer Administering the Government of Hongkong: the first forwarding copies of Reports from Brig. Staveley, Lt Col. Mordy, and Mr. Home on the Militia Requirements of Land in the Kowloon Peninsula; the second forwarding a letter from Col. Invine commenting on Mr. Home's remarks, with a plan of the ground.
It appears that the original text was heavily distorted due to OCR errors. I have made the following corrections: 1. Reordered and rejoined broken sentences. 2. Removed extra characters and gibberish (`Minne dink`, `4991`, `}`, `(R`, etc.). 3. Corrected spelling errors (`Mader` -> `Under`, `Sex` -> `State`, `Sirkkogers` -> likely a name, possibly `Sir`, `kaurint` -> `directed`, `Aus211` -> not clear, possibly a date or code, but removed as it doesn't make sense in context, `Imilitong` -> `Militia`, `Adminmietung` -> `Administering`, `Horython` -> `Hongkong`, `De Home` -> `Mr. Home`, `Invade` -> `Invine`, etc.). 4. Standardized formatting using HTML `` tags for paragraphs. 5. Removed or corrected nonsensical text and numbers. Please let me know if further corrections are needed.
