I beg to acquaint you for

the information of His Grace the Duke of

Newcastle, that I have

been actively engaged with the preparations required for the Royal Mint at Hong Kong in conformity

with the directions contained in Mr Elliott's letter dated the 23rd ultimo.

I have now

to

request you

to obtain for me authority to incur the expense of preparing the usual working drawings, made to scale, and specifications

of the Buildings and Machinery, to be issued to Contractors as a foundation for their estimates.

The cost of the said drawings will be about

Four hundred pounds;

I have further to request to be empowered by His Grace, to discharge certain small accounts for preliminary expenses already incurred, in forwarding the undertaking, by direction of the Deputy Master of the Mint amounting to

£129 - 7; and have the power to remain

as per memorandum enclosed.
