With reference to your letter dated the 6th instant, I am directed by the Duke of Newcastle to inform you that His Grace cannot entertain your application for an extension of leave of absence unless you produce a Medical Certificate from Dr. Ranat Martin, of 24, Mount Street, showing that such extension is absolutely necessary in your state of health.
