and to acquaint you in reply that necessary authority

has been given to Sir John Kirkland

to issue to the Colonial Agents General

the sum of Eighty one pounds, eleven shillings and sixpence

being the amount due

to the Government of Hong Kong for the subsistence of

men in confinement in

the Colonial Gaol during the year

ended 31st December 1862
