that they distinctly, avowed the objects for which a Charter was applied; and for which the Company was Established appears by their Deed of Settlement, and they confidently hope that as the prayer of the petition was granted, the Lords "Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury will be pleased to recognise officially the status, it confers upon the Bank, both as an English and Bank, and sanction the issue of Notes by the treasury of Hong Kong; and so Cong at all events, as their Lordships shall see no reason to alter the opinion which they have expressed" of the Credit and stability of the Bank
The Directors are gratified to learn that orders have been given by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to the Governor of Hong Kong to suspend for six months the interdiction issued against the receipt of this Bank's Notes, inasmuch as great injury must have resulted from its immediate enforcement.
