decision Could be governed only by Considerations regarding the Credit and stability of the Bank, They readily admit that no exception Could be taken to the receipt of the Notes of the Bank at the Treasury of Hong Kong
But this Board must be governed
- governed in these matters by general Considerations, and They Cannot alter their recorded opinion against the orders of the Acting Governor of Hong Kong for the receipt of the Notes at the Treasury
They would wish, however, that the direction for rescinding the Order should be carried into effect with as little inconvenience as possible to the Bank, and in such a manner as to avoid the risk of the proceeding affecting its Credit among the Natives.
Their Lordships are therefore willing to suspend proceedings in this matter for six months in order to afford you the opportunity of making arrangements in the interval for the withdrawal of the Notes of the Bank from Circulation or otherwise.
