Sir,

I am directed by the Lords of the Committee of Privy

Council for Trade to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 10 Instant,

and to inform you that the same has been taken into consideration.

I am to request that you will state to His Excellency the Governor of Hong Kong, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies,

that their Lordships have under their consideration a Copy of a Despatch from the Officer administering the government of Hongkong respecting the application

of the provisions of the Merchant Shipping Act 1854 to Masters and Mates of Vessels

belonging to that Colony, who have passed examinations for Certificates under the Colonial Ordinance No 17 1860.
