I have laid before the Postmaster General your letter of the 28th ult. and its Enclosures respecting the transmission from Hongkong of Mails and despatches for the United Kingdom by the line of the French Packets just established by the Government, and, in reply, I am directed to state to you, for the information of the Duke of Newcastle, that His Lordship does not consider that any instructions beyond those already sent to the Governor of Hongkong, are necessary.
