With reference to your letter No. 17 of the 29th July, last, regarding James Whyte Thompson, who was tried for attempt of murder at Hong Kong April last, and acquitted on the ground of insanity, I am directed by Secretary Sir George Grey to acquaint you for the information of the Governor that the case has been submitted to the Law Officers.
