Ion reference
Russell's despatch of the 5th Jan. 1862 and to
the Act of Parliament;
to which it refers, you will perceive that in
order to justify a
British authority in
handing an
Offender
over to a
French authority,
the offence must be committed not only "within the Jurisdiction" but within "the territorial Jurisdiction of France."

My Lord,
72
In compliance with the instructions contained in your Lordship's despatch of Dec. 19 & Dec. 24 of last year, I addressed a note to the Duc de Broglie requesting information as to the result
of
the Extradition of the Master of the "Fille d'Isigny"
to
the French authorities. I have now the honour to enclose copy of the reply which I have received from His Exc., in which he states that the Captain having been transferred to France, proceedings were taken accordingly.
