between the Government and

A

Committee formed for

this

special

object.

11. However much I might

wish to see this

very useful intention

carried into effect, I could not hold

any

hope

out to the Library Committee of Government aid toward their scheme, and I think it advisable that as their plans must harmonize with the general object, their future communication should be conducted with the General Committee.

12.

I earnestly hope that your Grace will accord approval of the scheme thus put forward, and I place it now before your Grace

as some of the Gentlemen interested have represented to me the advisability of having a speedy and final settlement of the matter.

13.

I have already permitted the erection of a public drinking Fountain, the gift of Mr. Dent, late a member of the Legislative Council, in front of the proposed site, and have directed that it be so placed as to be in keeping with the intended Building.

14.

I enclose plans of the ground

and of the suggested alteration

I have the honor to be,

My Lord Duke,

your Grace's most obedient servant
