11. However much I might
wish to see this
very useful intention
carried into effect, I could not hold
any
hope
out to the Library Committee of Government aid toward their scheme, and I think it advisable that as their plans must harmonize with the general object, their future communication should be conducted with the General Committee.

I earnestly hope that your Grace will accord approval of the scheme thus put forward, and I place it now before your Grace
as some of the Gentlemen interested have represented to me the advisability of having a speedy and final settlement of the matter.

I have already permitted the erection of a public drinking Fountain, the gift of Mr. Dent, late a member of the Legislative Council, in front of the proposed site, and have directed that it be so placed as to be in keeping with the intended Building.

and of the suggested alteration
