The humble petitioner craves most respectfully to bring to the notice of your Honor her circumstances, begging your Honor will be pleased to bring the same to the notice of His Excellency the Acting Governor, and in obtaining some compensation for the past faithful services of the deceased.
In doing so, your humble petitioner, as in duty bound, will ever pray.

In reply to your letter recommending the petition of the widow of the late Caetano de Souza for assistance to the favorable consideration of the Acting Governor, I am directed to inform you that His Excellency is pleased to grant Mrs. De Souza one hundred dollars as a charitable allowance.
