J was a prisoner on board the Convict hulk. I was one of those prisoners who were in the last boat landed. I saw these prisoners when they were on the W evening of the 23rd Instant on arriving alongside four or five prisoners rushed to get up the side of the prison hulk. Enger to get up - some of the prisoners trying to get up were driving others back off the side. The other prisoners against the side of the boat and in consequence the boat made one lurch and turned over. I went down in the water but on coming up got hold of a rope and afterwards when the boat righted I got into the boat.
I do not know how many prisoners were in the boat - it appeared to me to be the usual number. I never supposed that the boat was too heavily laden.
