The smaller Boat measures 4 feet 10 inches in length by 6 feet 5 inches in breadth and is only capable, with proper safety, of conveying 25 persons at one time.

Subject to the before-mentioned conditions, these boats are considered safe for the carriage of prisoners with ordinary care on the part of their custodians.

At the time the Royal Saxon was being fitted out as a Convict Hulk, it being desirable to ascertain how many persons the Long Boat would contain, I placed all the available men, then on my premises, in the Boat, the number being 62. It appeared to me that there was room for about 20 more occupants.
