to Par: 58 to 57. I have referred to the Market drainage in my Committee's statement to the Government. Want of water alone necessitated the adoption of "receptacles for the collection of solid matter, with an ample supply of water it is possible I may be able to dispense with these receptacles. In some of the Markets, Soothumpro for instance, there is no water, or any available except brought by hand. No uniform system can be efficiently applied to markets, each must be managed according to circumstances such as position, level, and the control it is under.
Par: 58/9. Except in particular places the openings into drains are small, high only, and these I think are well placed. In suitable positions, their area should not be curtailed, nor do I think the number should be increased.
