During the whole of my experience, a principal drain I will admit, but this was caused, not by the volume of water, but by the passage of many hundred tons of stone and earth from landslips blocking up the drain. This intercepting sewer is impracticable of execution except in a very minor degree, and until the city extends further seaward, there will be no undue pressure upon any of the drains.
