that not less than three hundred affidavits have to be prepared immediately the Quarter Sessions rise, in reference to arrears of Police and Lighting rates, and that the pressure of Official matters upon this Department has been such that Mr. Hyerdman of the Police and Lighting Rate Branch has been compelled to employ extra assistance to help him in the daily routine of his duties and I have further to draw attention to the additional labour that must fall upon my Department when the Water Rates are collected.

Should the Acting Governor approve of the permanent appointment of a Copying Clerk as I have stated, I would recommend that the nomination should be made at once and at the rate of sixty Dollars per month, the Salary to be attached to the contemplated Office.
