I should remark that the children of Chinese in the native Schools, and indeed the entire population are accustomed to have recourse to Native Doctors, and that except in Police cases within the Government Civil Hospital, our own medical men have little opportunity of studying the diseases incidental to the native Community.

I have to observe that the Circular Despatch of 7th July 1860, to which Your Grace refers in the Despatch under acknowledgment, is reported as not on record and as having never been received here,
