6.

I requested that gentleman

to undertake

a similar enquiry

into the capabilities and progress

of

the Cadets.

This Mr. Wade most kindly agreed to do.

4.

I enclose his report Messrs. Jonnochy and Smith

When it shall again become necessary to request F. Legge's services in this regard (always most willingly rendered) I shall not fail to place Mr. Wade's memorandum before him, or I shall, if conveniently occur, take an opportunity of doing so.

I must note that Mr. Deane, the remaining Cadet, is unfortunately absent at Macao having been obliged by serious illness to leave Stoushong for change of air.

I have the honor to be,

My Lord Duke, Your Lordship's

Most Obedient Servant,

Molinom
