You will see from the printed Report that the Authorities in Hong Kong have responded that Mr. Stewart should have full Salary from date of Embarkation, & pay for his own passage receiving £200 for that purpose as an advance salary.
The Duke of Newcastle affected that the Colonial Regulations should be adhered to so that Mr. Stewart should have 1 1/2 Salary from Embarkation.
Mr. Stewart acceded to a free passage to this suggestion thereby saving about £31 10s 0d of paying £77.
